Social And Interpersonal Skills: Manners And Etiquette
Having delivered manners and etiquette training in both the corporate and high school environment, the importance of manners and etiquette cannot be underestimated.
The following modules form the basis of our Manners and Etiquette course. Modules and training courses can be tailored to your requirements and unique situation.
Feel-Good Factors
Appropriate manners are the ‘feel good factors’ of any social interaction. During this presentation we explore what good manners look like in action, where we can apply these positive actions, and what impact they have on others.
Rules of the Game
Etiquette may seem like an old-fashioned notion, but social rules apply in almost every interaction with others – it’s just that they are unspoken. And as with all rules, if you unwittingly break them, there can be consequences. We explore those rules in this module, and discuss the resultant positive and negative outcomes of our actions in social situations.
Let’s Eat
For some people, dining table etiquette is an intimidating social minefield. But why is our behaviour at table so important? We explore these issues with instruction and practical role play, covering casual and formal dining. Where possible we try to use real crockery, cutlery and food.
Business Etiquette
It’s impossible to run a business without clients. How we present ourselves, and our behaviour towards our clients and colleagues – both in and out of the workplace – can have a huge impact on business growth, personal relationships and career progression. This module uses lived experiences from the business world, and explores the impressions and consequences of our personal presentation and behaviours at work.
Silent Messages
People are often unaware of the silent messages they are sending through their body language. This module involves role play to demonstrate how we present ourselves without saying a word, how we can modify our body language to create the right impression, and how we can interpret other people’s silent messages.
Domestic Bliss
Manners and etiquette start in the home and this module discusses domestic protocol. The rewards are increased harmony in the home, and an appreciation of living together as a group.
Grooming and Hygiene: Men
“But I got in the shower didn’t I?…Soap? Surely that’s an optional extra!” This module is aimed at those blokes who either do not understand the importance of good hygiene and grooming, or who just don’t care!
Grooming and Hygiene: Ladies
‘If you want something done, ask a busy woman’ goes the saying – but there are real challenges in presenting ourselves the way we’d like to when our to-do list is longer than a full-length mirror! Make-up and grooming are important in projecting the right image – that is, one we are happy with. We discuss general principles of hygiene and health, and focus on looking good without spending precious hours in front of the mirror.
